Turns out I have work in two more shows this July. 4 pieces in 4 different galleries – not too shabby! I have a new painting in the annual FRIDA SHOW at Studio 10 in Arthouse on R. This show will run through August 11th. And I also have a small collage – and I mean small! 1.5 inch square small – in the MicroArtCollection – Part III at DaDas Art Gallery Boutique in East Sacramento. This part of the MicroArtCollection will be up through Aug 5th. So, you’ve got 4 weeks or so to check out 4 awesome Sacramento galleries. Ready… go! oh right, this also happened – I had a poem (I’m not a writer!!) published in Dime Show Review. I’m not sure how I feel about this.
or something like that… It is July 10 and this week is busy! And the beginning of a very busy month. Man, I still need to write my Artist Statement for my solo show! Last night I dropped off a print at Vox for this show: Join me and 53 other artist/photographers in a “12 Hours in Sacramento” art experiment. These artists have come together to showcase individual images taken over a span of 12 hours in the greater Sacramento area. For my part, come and see what 6pm in the sticks looks like. The California State Fair opens on Thursday July 12th! Make sure you check out the Fine Art Exhibit in Expo Center Building 7. Look for my 2 award winning photographs! And because 3 is the magic number, The Viewpoint Member’s Exhibit opens this week with the Artist Reception on Friday night (Friday the 13th – you know it’s gonna be good!) and then the Second Saturday reception on the 14th. I am showing a new photograph “The Three Graces”. It is one of the preliminary images of a new series I am working on. So I hope our paths cross as some point during this busy art-filled…
All dressed up and nowhere to go. Not true! Tomorrow I am taking these two photographs to Cal Expo for the California State Fair’s Fine Art Exhibit! From the Fair’s website: “This visual arts exhibition is recognized as one of the Golden State’s largest and most prestigious juried art shows.” Sweet! Out of 1326 total entries, they accepted 180 artworks and only 40 photographs. I guess I’ll have to brave the heat and finally attend the fair. Which means I will also get a chance to try one of those deep-fried twinkies I’ve been hearing about. Fair dates July 12th – 29th. Plan accordingly!
Hey guess what! It’s almost next month and you know what that means right? A new VOXSac – Second Saturdy show! And yes, that is my name you see snuggled in there with the rest of the particating artists. Which means I need to get on it. Pictures to print, mats to cut… busy busy busy I know, I know, this site has become a bit Vox-centric of late (maybe December will find no one in this household participating in that month’s show, but I hope not!). And I truely had high expectations that my next post would involve some actual writing, but – I’ve got nothing right now. And then Jill sent the flyer and well… here we are. But have no fear! Soon we’ll be getting back to quality posts just like this one – old and bitter – an instant classic no?
Wow, the show this weekend was fantastic! Not only were all the photos amazing – it was great to meet and chat with the other photographers. And I would really like to thank the ubers who came up for the weekend, Rachel and Phil Valley and Cayle and Holly Little for all making it to the Artist Reception on Friday evening. For those of you who couldn’t make it – here are the images I have up. Get the flash player here: http://www.adobe.com/flashplayer I did manage to take a few photos on Friday evening and will try to get them posted soon. But first? another Barbie video. joy.
September Show at Vox Sacramento as promised – information about my upcoming show at Vox Sacramento next month! This is a group show for members of the Flickr group Sacramento Photographers. The Artist Reception is Friday, Sept 11th and you should definitely come by – beat the Second Saturday rush! This will be the first showing of my photographs (besides the 2 hanging at the Lincoln Twelve Bridges library) and I am so excited about it. And a bit intimidated – the works of 25 other fantistic photographers will also be on display. I can’t wait to see everything! I also can’t wait to finally decide which photos to show. I know, I know, I’ll have it all worked out by the end of the weekend. I hope.
