Last week I had a “ooh look at this post on Facebook from Roseville Arts!” moment and signed Erin up for free painting workshop yesterday at Blue Line Gallery. Turns out the workshop was for the upcoming NATURAL WONDERS FOREVER Children’s Open Show. “Natural Wonders Forever – Inspired by the Natural Wonders of Placer County… This fall, share your artwork depicting the landscape and natural beauty that is Placer County. Rivers, grassy hills, flower patches, the beautiful blue sky-it’s up to you what to paint!” Cool! Erin got to paint and her painting will be in a gallery show! The show is sponsored by Placer Land Trust and will run from Sept 28 – Oct 6, 2012 at the Blue Line Gallery in Roseville. That’s 2 shows for her this summer. The first one being the University Art “Kid’s Art Contest: Birds, Bugs, and Butterflies”. Not bad for a 5 year old! The classroom: Excited to paint! (She brought her own apron) Doin’ her thing. She was instructed to fill in all the white space. And done! Pretty awesome! There is a door. That leads to the farm. I don’t know why. Portrait of the artist with an extra head.…

In the Pink
Yeah, I don’t know if you noticed the amount of pink everywhere these past couple weeks, but it’s October and it ain’t all about the orange and the black. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and I donated the above monotype to the Komen for the Cure – Create for the Cure. It is currently on display at the Maiya Gallery in midtown. And the best part? It sold at the opening Preview Party last Thursday night!! That rocks! And now on to Boston!
I can’t take the pressure!!
Well, that blood pressure medicine I was taking finally kicked in on Tuesday and it was not good. My blood pressure was low. Way low. Passing out now low. So a quick call to the doctor’s office and that experiment is done. No more Norvasc for me. Two days later I’m starting to feel normal again. Well, normal for me. shut up. Turns out I’m going to need my energy, I’ve got a lot of work to get done this weekend. Vox has found a new home and I’m happy to say that I’m going to be exhibiting in the October show! And we hang that show on Monday!! Looks like I’m gonna be framing some photographs and transfers over the next couple days. Also on my to-do list – self portraits for my photography class. gah. Luckily the critique has been pushed back a week so I have a bit more time to get the roll shot, developed, and an enlargement made. But I can’t continue slackin’ on this for long, because in 2 weeks Chris and I are going to Boston for a long weekend! So to recap: This weekend: shoot some photos and frame some other photos.…
World Domination in 3… 2…
Well, as soon as I print some photos and get them in the mail that is. Because then I can say that I will be exhibiting my photographs internationally! Thanks to an invite from Moochin Photoman on the flickr Through the Viewfinder group, I am going to contribute to this exhibit in Belfast: Freakin’ Belfast!! How cool is that?!
I sold my husband on Ebay – cheap!
OK, that’s not entirely true. What is true is that I sold the photograph I had up at this month’s Vox show! (Man, I love saying that!) Yep, that’s Chris, the reluctant model for one of the Utata Iron Photographer projects. And speaking of Utata, guess who is part of their new Code Ninja Strike Force? That’s right – me! And that is their title, not mine – these are my people! I’m told I’ll be paid in cake. That’s cool. In other big news, in the paying gig world, I am the new Code Artist for Sweet Blog Design! I am so happy to be working with some of my favorite bloggers. I sold a photo. I am a Code Ninja/Code Artist/geek. I think that covers it.
Love is in the air…
and I’m in the mood for… framing some art! After having the month of January off (just couldn’t pull my piece together in time due to those pesky holidays!), I’m showing again in February’s Second Saturday show at Vox! Me and an intimate group of 35 artists! And you guessed it – the theme is “love”. I have no idea what I’m going to show. Love… I’m so sure Like, gag me with a spoon!
