Santa came! and replaced my daughter’s regular legs with mile-long spider limbs! freaky oh man. Kyle, Erin, and I played a game of Life – it was almost as painful as the real thing! And with this gift, Chris gets his phone back. Priceless. But then he had to build the Monster High Catacombs. No Barbie Dreamhouse for our little ghoul. I don’t think Chuck Norris appreciated his inflatable unicorn horn, but I sure appreciated this box of art supplies from Santa! And with the arrival of the grandparents, came an outfit change. Girl cleans up nice. We are in trouble with this one. Merry Christmas ya filthy animals!

Think Happy Thoughts
It is Halloween and I spent the morning listening to Kyle complain about how uncomfortable thong underwear is. wow. They really do grow up so fast. So, to try and erase the images of him and his teammates at last night’s costumed volleyball practice – sports bra and thongs oh my – I have been clicking through my computer files looking for cute and innocent pics of Halloween past. I wasn’t finding what I was looking for, but ran across this series of images from our Florida trip in 2012. Sure, it has nothing to do with Halloween, but it made me smile. I mean really, who hasn’t wanted to chase Kyle around with a big stick!
Oh Holy … crap! It’s almost Christmas!
Somehow I missed writing a post in November. Man. I don’t even remember November. There was turkey right? Well let’s see if I can remember December so far… I made it to the opening reception of the “Make Your Own Kind of Music” at The Temp. A miracle as I was fighting a migraine while viewing my migraine painting. So very meta. The show is up through this weekend. Check it out! Got our #kickassxmastree and decked the halls, plus 90% of shopping done. Erin lost 2 more teeth. Rats ate my car! My semester ended. I got an A. Printmaking B next term! Went to San Mateo last weekend with Kyle for the final Power League tournament. They came in 8th in the Gold Division. Not too shabby. And again ended higher than the 17-1s team so yay! Missed Second Saturday, but sold one of my pieces at the Art Under 100 Bucks show at BodyTribe! Still 2 very affordable prints available. ::wink wink nudge nudge:: While we were out of town, Erin got sick. Fever for 2 days and ended up in Urgent Care Sunday night. Diagnosis: flu. Kyle and I got home and then turned right…
Septem … what do you mean it’s October?!
hells bells How did that happen?! I swear I was still writing August on things when suddenly it was October! What even happened in September?! ::consults Facebook wall:: oh. right. September was full of crazy – good and bad – and it flew by. Everyone was back in school – here is photo proof: Wow. And then there was the headache week from hell that ended with me getting shots in my butt on Day 6. Day 6!! damn. But to spin a positive from all that pain, I did create a couple more pieces of ‘migraine’ art. A Day 4 painting: And a Day 6 photo became a drypoint that I’m still working on: Of course that was the end of my 29Faces run. That week really wiped me out! The next weekend had me and Kyle in San Mateo for the 2-day tournament that starts the fall volleyball season. Always fun. And then Ericfish and John came to visit! And that was more fun! And then, just like that, is was October. so yeah. September was a blur and it’s already the 11th! The Halloween decorations have been up for over a week, and its time to think…
Big Fun at the Fair!
So we consulted our calendars and cross-referenced the 7-day weather forecast and determined that this past Monday was the best day to go to the California State Fair. Chris left work early, I picked up Erin from Summer Camp, hats were donned, and off we went. First up: Fine Art Exhibit to check out my pieces and all the other entries. Me and my muse: And then it was off to see the animals and all the things Erin could ride. Like this bear: And a racehorse! She wasn’t too happy way up there. The petting zoo more than made up for that. And riding a real horse! After checking out all the animals, we hit the midway. I don’t think she had as much fun as I did on the Tilt-o-Whirl, but she liked the jeep. And then rode another horse: And the swings! A well deserved ice cream break in the shade: And then the giant slide with dad! We took a tour around CalExpo on the monorail before a final spin on the ferris wheel with dad! Great day!
April can bite my ever-expanding ass!
Well, I somehow manage to recover from the plague and get on with my life. And thank the heavens we are almost through with the evil month of April! The month of far too many birthdays and way too much cake! It starts with Chris’s birthday on the 2nd and not only did I bake him a cake, I made chocolate fudge frosting from scratch! Per his request and because I love him. And yes, it was good. We finally get that cake finished off, and here comes Erin’s birthday on Saturday the 13th! Which means the Friday before she got to celebrate with a party at school. I baked cupcakes, stuffed goody bags full of art supplies, and fun and merriment was had by all. On her birthday we took her to Toys-R-Us (she got a scooter, 4 horses in a stable, another Monster High doll, and some black velvet posters to color) and then out to dinner where she had a hot fudge sundae. And even though she had just had ice cream, and there were still cupcakes at home, apparently a birthday is just not right and proper without a cake! So we swung by the grocery…
