Septem … what do you mean it’s October?!

hells bells How did that happen?! I swear I was still writing August on things when suddenly it was October! What even happened in September?! ::consults Facebook wall:: oh. right. September was full of crazy – good and bad – and it flew by. Everyone was back in school – here is photo proof: Wow. And then there was the headache week from hell that ended with me getting shots in my butt on Day 6. Day 6!! damn. But to spin a positive from all that pain, I did create a couple more pieces of ‘migraine’ art. A Day 4 painting: And a Day 6 photo became a drypoint that I’m still working on: Of course that was the end of my 29Faces run. That week really wiped me out! The next weekend had me and Kyle in San Mateo for the 2-day tournament that starts the fall volleyball season. Always fun. And then Ericfish and John came to visit! And that was more fun! And then, just like that, is was October. so yeah. September was a blur and it’s already the 11th! The Halloween decorations have been up for over a week, and its time to think…

Welcome to the House of Pestilence

I’ve been sick, sick, and more sick. For weeks now. I see no end to this. Erin got sick and then better. Chris got sick and got better even faster. Kyle never gets sick. I am going to be sick for the rest of my life. So it goes. I’ve missed 2 weeks of school. Which means I am no longing taking the Illustration class. I still hadn’t gotten the paperwork in to add it and after missing 3 classes there is no point. Maybe I’ll try again next semester. Maybe. I’m okay in Photography because I was ahead of the game when I got sick. So if I ever get back to class, I have work ready to start making Van Dyke prints. I have a fever, a hacking cough, and have even taken naps. Bring on the other Horsemen. While we wait, here are a couple videos of the kids. Don’t  tell CPS. Erin vs the Atomic Warheads Extreme Sour Hey Kyle, why does it feel so good to have sore muscles massaged?

It’s all in the details

So, that solo show at Viewpoint? It going to be this August! August 8 thru September 1, 2012 in the Step Up Gallery to be exact. I am spending this semester doing an Independant Study course to get all the printing, toning, and matting done for the show. I also will be shooting some new images for the show. Need to blow the dust of the Hassey and get to work! In the meantime, I’m working on uploading the rest of my recent images to this site’s Darkness at Noon and NEW WORK galleries so be sure to check those out. I’ll probably do a bit of house cleaning around the other galleries while I’m at it. I also have a “new” Polaroid camera and several packs of Impossible Project film to shoot. Oh and we got a dog! You can find also find me on Instagram – enjoy!

GoGoGadgetNewDrug

I thought today was the day I had my follow-up appointment with the neurologist. I was wrong. That appt is next Tuesday. Today was the pumpkin patch field-trip with Erin’s preschool. oh boy. If anything is going to put this new medication to the test, it is a day in the sun surrounded by a bunch of hopped up 4 year olds. Now I don’t want to jinx myself, but so far this stuff seems to be working. Although this will be the week to watch, I have not had a migraine since I started taking it. And I must say it is strange. There have been days where I know that without the medicine I would have had a headache. It kinda feels like cheating death or something. I have not noticed any negative side effects either. So. I’m hopeful. To celebrate surviving the day with my head intact, I published a bunch of pictures on flickr for your viewing enjoyment. That little girl was wiped out by the time I literally dragged her out of there. I think she had fun. And she wants a goat. And if I hit publish and wake up with a headache, I…

Excited, busy, out of printer ink

I am sitting on some potentially HUGE news. I’m just waiting on some sort of formal notice before I say anything. But it’s big, and I’m already loosing sleep over it. In the meantime, the fall semester has started and I’ve taken 3 classes so I’m kinda busy. Add to the normal busy the fact that my son is playing club volleyball and you get one highly organized wife/mother/student/artist! I hope. I have redundant calendars all over the house! So today I’m just working through my to-do and while waiting for a couple contact sheets to print, I’ve added a CV to this site. Oh wait, I’m out of ink. Adding a trip to Staples to my list and I am outta here.

Goodnewsapalooza!

Hey did you hear the good news? We won our appeal with the County Board of Education last Thursday night! It was beyond nerve-wracking and a close vote: 4-3. yikes. It took Chris and I over a day to finally come to grips with the reality that the whole interdistrict transfer process was finally over and that Kyle was actually going to be allowed to attend Whitney HS. damn that was stressful. But today I got Kyle enrolled at Whitney and he is all set to start in the fall. So relieved. And probably 3 inches taller without all that stress weighing on me. And Kyle isn’t the only kid around here with school news. Erin had her “Moving Up” party last Friday at preschool. She’s no longer in the Busy Bee class, but in the Open Court class. Weird name for a classroom isn’t it? Turns out Open Court is the name of the reading program that class uses. Erin was placed in the “advanced” Pre-K class. And today was her first day in her new class with a new teacher. Seems to have gone okay. The big difference for us is that in the new class there is…
