About

Dawn Blanchfield has been creating art since she was a child; painting her first murals on her elementary school walls. Originally from Detroit, Michigan, she moved to Ventura, California in the early 90s where she studied painting under noted abstract impressionist Gerd Koch and took her first photography class. A lover of learning and self-professed ‘Techniques Addict’, Blanchfield continued her education after moving to northern California in 2000. She attended Sierra College and studied printmaking and photography with a focus on Alternative Processes and continues to take workshops whenever she can. Blanchfield works in many different mediums (not always using them as the manufacturer intended) and some of her favorite art supplies come from the hardware store. Blanchfield lives in Lincoln CA and has been exhibiting her artwork in the greater Sacramento and Bay Area for over 10 years. Her work has been included in the Crocker Art Auctions and is in the Lincoln Public Library’s Permanent art collection.
